Fluoride salts and fluoboric acid for glass, metal finishing, oral care and synthesis. Ammonium bifluoride and ammonium fluoride etch and frost glass; potassium fluoborate goes into brazing fluxes and aluminium grain refiners; sodium and stannous fluoride into toothpaste; sodium and potassium silicofluoride into opal glass, enamels, latex foam and acid-resistant cements; fluoboric acid into tin and lead plating baths. Fluorides are toxic and release hydrogen fluoride with strong acids, so packing and SDS matter.
